A praoclaiming that you might have perhaps heard a whole lot running a business, in sports, and human performance normally is controlling the controllable. What does that truly mean? I wanted to look at this concept of managing the controllable, which can be actually fantastic advice by the way, and take it out from the arena of as a cliché and in the an entire world of something that we are able to actually do.
In our workshops we'll use something known as the CIA Model to aid students gain comprehension of this concept reducing stress in their own lives. It's pretty obvious to see this model so here's the short form.
CIA means Control Influence Accept. All in the circumstances and situations that individuals find inside ourselves will get into one of them three categories. I am going to discuss them backwards order.
There is definitely an enormous amount of things in your world we simply need to accept. Weather, traffic patterns, scores and outcomes of games that we're not actually playing in. One of the best things that we can do for our own peace of mind is that when there's something that we need to accept, is really only to accept it not waste any injury looking to put it back.
The second category are things that we influence. The two big issues that fall into this are the immediate environment, your vehicle, your working environment, your house, and other people that you deal with. Listen, we don't have control over our kids, our colleagues, etc, but perform have influence over them, the other in the best stuff that that you can do for your own growth is in circumstances where you have influence to really exercise that influence will dramatically improve your self-esteem.
Now we arrived at the category of things we can control. We're here to share with you managing the controllable. Well, guess what, folks? I've found there's really merely one thing among the list of things that people can control. It's your decisions.
That's right, your decisions about your life are the only thing that individuals already have direct control over. When you realize this, it becomes form of confronting and sort of liberating all simultaneously. What do you do using this type of information, how the only thing that I have total control over are the decisions that I make?
Stop looking to control items that you have no treating. Amazing if you ask me how much energy people waste trying to control stuff that they maybe have influence over, but in many cases should just accept. I'll also state that with regards to issues that you have zero influence over, I wouldn't spend much time talking or complaining about them. It's simply a drain on the energy. Are you catching yourself wanting to control stuff that you really should just accept? Notice that, and I would change your mind on that.
When you realize that this only thing you have total control over will be your decisions, be responsible for that decision-making process. I'm not saying to blame yourself when things prove poorly. I am saying it requires responsibility to the decision which you make. That's when you start governing the controllables and seeing the outcomes that you really need to see.
I don't play a whole lot of poker, but one thing that I be familiar with is always that winning at cards, specifically poker, includes a touch to do with they read more that you are dealt, and it features a huge amount to do with the method that you make decisions and play the cards which you're dealt. Same thing costs your lifetime. Life truly is ten percent what goes on to us and 90 percent how we react.
I hope that you simply have enjoyed studying controlling the controllables.
